October brings us this year’s events
for breast cancer. There will be the walk, the run, the
pink hair and more. Now you can make a difference by
donating your old wig for recycling. There are more cancer
survivors now than ever, so the kind, caring clients of The
Salon have initiated a recycled wig campaign.
“We are asking survivors, as well as
other salons and their clients, to clean out their closets and
donate any wigs, new or used, that they may have. The
salon will refurbish the piece(s) by sanitizing them and making
necessary repairs. In some cases wigs that may no longer
be any good will be used for parts. We may take three bad
wigs and make one good wig out of that,” said Michele Errico,
Creative Director of The Salon. “Our goal is to help women who
are going through chemotherapy by providing these options for
the hair loss side effects.” Refurbished wigs will be
offered to cancer patients at no charge via the American Cancer
Society and other local programs.
“This program started when clients
who know about The Salon’s involvement with the ACS and Women at
Risk programs, just to mention a few, wanted to help and brought
in their old wigs, asking if we could find a good home for them.
How could I say no?” said Jose Alberto, from The Salon.
